About Dominica

Dominica is an adventurer’s dream known as Wai’tukubuli:
’Tall is her body’.

Its majestic luxuriance of its knotted terrain and forested slopes have captivated visitors for over five centuries. Dominica is an island for travelers and adventurers rather than for those who like their pleasures manicured and tamed.Secret Fall

As a visitor one participates in the life of the island and enjoys its natural gifts of sea, river, and mountain as the islanders do, whether by foot by bus or by car. In this way each new vista becomes a personal discovery rather than a programmed slot on a packaged itinerary.

November 3rd, 1493 Columbus first sighted Wai’tukubuli and renamed it Dominica (not to be mistaken with Dominican Republic). From his notes: ”Dominica is remarkable for the beauty of its mountain and the amenity of its verdure and must be seen to be believed.”

Dominica is home to 365 rivers and numerous waterfalls. Everything is too much here: too much blue, too much purple … the flowers too red, the mountain being the tallest in all the group, the rain most violent, and the ravines torn out by the torrents are the wildest and the most magnificent. .. the air is clean and transparent, the rainbows are graceful, vegetation is abundant. If you ever thought of green as being a color that could dazzle you, come see for yourself.

So many shades of green so many varieties of tone and texture gracefully achieve such an effect of a magnificent patchwork.
